I am just beginning my third day of demos for my Midwest launch and am thrilled because of the incredible amount of energy I feel when I am in front of my customers and the teams that work in these stores. I feel rejuvenated and it is a true blessing for me. I love it when people ask questions and I can be of help with their choice of which ingredients to use and which to avoid and to remind them how imperative it is to read labels and learn more about the ingredients they put on their bodies.
I was upset to read an article the other day about Phthalates and how this terrible chemical is found in many baby products. Many of us have known about this chemical for a long time and I never use them in my products because of the harm they can do to our bodies. The article talks about how Phthalates are found in baby urine very soon after their loving parents use baby powders and shampoos. Just so you know many times Phthalates are used to stabilize artificial fragrances – which I never use in my products. They can lead to asthma, depression, hyperactivity, headaches, seizers, skin rashes, and reproductive problems. It upsets me that these ingredients can still be used, especially in baby products. You can read the article by clicking here.
(There are many other ingredients to avoid and we will post a more comprehensive listing on the ingredients page on the hugonaturals.com website soon)
I am committed to bringing an honest, simple, and beautiful product to the marketplace, and to bring attention to the way big companies profit themselves without the knowledge of the consumer and with complete disregard to their health and wellbeing.
I don't claim to have all of the answers about ingredients and please use your own discretion when deciding which product is right for you. There are many questions surrounding these chemicals and I am happy to help you if I can. Email me, write a comment, or come join me at one of my demos and ask me in-person. You can find Hugo's February demo schedule here).
Thank you for reading my blog.
God Bless you,
HUGO

Hi! I just bought your product this morning at Newpark Mall's Farmer's Market. The vendor there is very friendly. I love your products! I bought the unscented lotion for my face (I have a dry skin) and was really glad with the results. It is better than any other moisturizing products I have ever use, actually it's the BEST! I shared it with my mom and she was really amazed on how your product made my skin so soft. We're going to Farmer's Market nextweek to buy more of your products. I'am really praying that someday you'll have your own boutique in a mall where we can shop anyday, everyday :) More power to you! And thanks for the wonderful information on your blog about Phthalates very informative. :)

Hugo, you are awesome!! I came on here looking for more info on the conditioner I recently bought from your line. Hats off to you for taking such an effort to make such natural body and hair care. I initially bought your Vanilla & Sweet Orange conditioner because it was one of hte few conditioners I have seen without sulfates and I just started using it; it left my hair shiny and soft. Amazing, how good it smells. So I went to Whole Foods again today to buy the shampoo that goes with the conditioner. I am so impressed by your "be natural" ethic and so happy to finally have found such natural products. I am very paranoid about using chemicals on my skin and hair, the natural lifestyle is so much better for our health. Thanks again, and like the poster above said, more power to you!!

I just found your products yesterday at Whole Foods. I am always on the lookout for the best soap and bodycare products and I am SO excited to have found yours. Your scents are unreal and your choice of natural ingredients are so awesome. Usually, even in so-called natural products there are parabens or propolyne glycols used OR there are really lackluster essential oil blends. I am so glad I don't have to settle anymore! I am sold forever.
One book you may want to suggest to your readers is "Drop Dead Gorgeous" by Kim Erickson. This was my introduction to understanding the lexicon of harmful synthetic chemicals in my everyday products. It's very informative and important information for everyone to know.
I look forward to more amazing products from you and your company. Keep up your good work and maybe think about making a solid perfume. ? . I would like my whole world to smell like your Vanilla & Sweet Orange scent.
Thank you!

Hi Hugo,
I was initially introduced to your products by someone in the Whole Body department of Whole Foods in Cary, NC. She was sold on your product line above everything else they sell. It was enough for me to try it, though as it turns out she recommended the wrong product line, the Lemon Verbina shampoo/conditioner. I was so incredibly amazed at the level of customer support that I received when I called your company to find out which shampoo/conditioner that I should have bought. You sent me samples of several different products, including the Red Tea and Ylang Ylang shampoo/conditioner, and the Vanilla & Sweet Orange lotion. I'm so impressed with all three products that I've given samples of them to several of my personal training clients, and am about to give them to two professional stylists--though I'm not going to tell them what the products are. I've just asked that they try them and let me know what they think before I tell them what it is.
As a personal trainer, I usually use Purell after each client, especially in the winter when colds and flu are rampant. Needless to say, this leaves my hands completely stripped of moisture due to the alcohol in the Purell. I'm also a massage therapist, and due to all of the hand washing between clients and cleaning massage tables with anti-microbial solutions, once again, my hands are incredibly dry and stripped of moisture. I am thrilled to say that after using the lotion, my hands stay moisturized, whether I've washed my hands or if I've used Purell. I keep some of the lotion behind the personal training desk at my gym, asking clients to try it after their workout, and to notice how their hands feel immediately after, and also later after they wash their hands. I've never used anything else like this.
As for the shampoo and conditioner, my hair is just as soft and lustrous as with a very expensive line of botanical products that my stylist uses. What's impressive is that your products work just as well if not better, but for a much better price, and also are much "cleaner" in that they don't have the sulfates and other chemicals in them as those in the "professional" lines.
I also have to report that when I was in Whole Foods a couple of days ago, I sold 2 women on your product line. Each purchases a shampoo and conditioner and one also got the lotion. I knew more about your product than did the sales person who worked there. I guess you can say that I'm becoming a Hugo Naturals junkie. :)
I'm thrilled with everything so far and also have some additional product suggestions as well. Thanks for sharing your vision with us in the form of such a wonderful product line. I'm thrilled to know of your focus on natural, organic, and chemical free, and was impressed to learn of your phthalate-free baby product line.
From a new and now extremely loyal customer, many thanks to you!

Hugo,
I am so thankful I found your product line! I've been switching over from other "all natural" products that actually include some common human carcinogens - yuck! I love how everything in your products is something I can pronounce and trackback to a plant not a chemical lab.
I had a really hard time finding a natural deodorant that actually works! Yours works! Thank you thank you! I just picked up your hand balm at Wholefoods this weekend and I'm hooked. It is so elemental, I just love it. Next on my list is your Shampooo and Conditioner.
Thank you for being ahead of the game when it comes to excluding harmful carcinogens and parabens from your excellent product line. I am telling all my friends! Please post on your blog if you are going to be in Arizona anytime to demo your products. I would love to thank you in person.
Cheers!
Chrystine

I stopped using perfumes because of the phthalates but was missing having a nice scent. I happened to be at Whole Foods today and saw the Essential Mists! I bought the Orange and Vanilla one. I'm happy to have found a natural fragrance without phthalates.
BTW, is the shea butter that Hugo Naturals uses for its products refined or unrefined?
